I'm going to check into getting a few PAL copies made, because of course, I want everyone to be able to see the movie.
Email me directly in a couple weeks if you don't hear me.

some multi standard decks convert the ntsc signal to 60 hz pal, which works on a lot of tv sets, but i haven't seen one that would convert to regular pal.
well, i don't have any kind of multi standard deck so i can't watch it anyway. and i refuse to pay for something i can only watch at a friend's house. when i moved back to sweden from new york i brought my ntsc tapes, and seeing them on the shelf now, not being able to watch them truly sucks. ;-)

So a multi-standard deck simply plays different formats, it does no actual "conversion" of any kind.
Gosh, if someone made a multi-standard TV-VCR...they would be a billionaire!
Just don't put a "video out" connector on the Mult-Standard TV/VCR, and people could have their cake (videos from any video standard) without pirating videos (no video out connector)....everyone wins.
Does such a Multi-Standard TV/VCR exist?

I recently purchased a copy of Lost Tribes off of ebay just out of curiousity sake, got great letter from Matt P. I look forward to seeing it.
By the way, the thread on this message seems to have veered pretty far from the original theme - shouldn't you start a new thread or something?

(Matt Pacini resonds): Thanks for buying the film.
And yeah, sometimes these threads wonder pretty far away...
P.S. I've decided not to do any PAL copies at this time, since they cost me $10.00 a copy, and I'm selling them for $14.99, which I split 50/50 with my investors.
Not really worth it, since I've only gotten a couple requests for PAL.

This post did change the topic, but it still is a relevant issue for Matt and other filmmakers who could be selling their films all over the world.

Hey, just thought I'd post this, to let you guys know that to my surprise, there ARE film distributors willing to at least consider a film made on Super 8.
I've had three requests for viewing copies from distributors who have seen Lost Tribes for sale on ebay, and two from mandy.com.
My ebay ad clearly says that the film was shot on Super 8, so while it's true that it's a significant handicap, trying to get a S8 film distributed, it's not like it's a universal thing that they're not going to be interested.
Something to think about.
Now we'll see if they actually like it!

Well, Matt, as the Foreign And Adquisition agent for Imagen DEATH, I can tell you that a well shoot super8 will be always more marketable than a direct-on-video product, or a film-looked product. Horror and sci-fi fans can easily accept a low gauge project, or, at least more easily, since a wide part of them are, or try to be, filmmakers themselves. When we receive a shoot on video project, we always suggest a filmlook process or similar, and got really critic with it's quality. And keep in mind that shooting a super8 feature requires much more investment, time, knoweledge and skill than a DV feature, what makes them far more interesting and, sometimes, have much higher production values. I know these facts are followed by b-movie and some of our other friends, and keep in mind that several companies, such as Troma will only distribute shoot on film projects (they were near to distribute Bleak Future), even on a small gauge.

Thanks Jos?.
Wow, I had no idea you looked on this website!
Great to have you here, and you should be getting my tape soon!
I hope you like it. I'd love to actually shoot a film in Spain too.
Beautiful place, and my wife can translate for me, since she speaks Spanish!
